I'm so excited that I have to post some pictures. I've been trying to grow plants on my windowsill for a few months now. The basil is doing great; the chives look a little weird and I've already pulled out the parsley. I've been waiting on the strawberries, but only one lone plant spouted and now it has a bud!

Basil and some weird looking chives.

More basil and the lone strawberry plant.

Cards

It's been so long since I've had time to make anything. I've been busy with school and practicums. I had to send thank you cards for a few observations I did and I took the opportunity to pull out the stamps and glue gun!

Materials: cloth flower, clear stamps, rub transfer, felt, coloured paper

I tried a few techniques and styles. I think they turned out pretty well!

Past ideas

When I first moved into my apartment in September, I was not in the mood to start school. So instead, I decorated the apartment, cooked and pretty much did anything, but study. Here are a few of the things I accomplished:

First I made some picture/bullentin boards for my room:

They are made of fabric, cotton batting, cork board, leather cord, and upholestry tacks. In the end, I used them as picture boards.
Inspiration: Something similar in a catalog or online.
Improvements for next time: Longer tacks or something to bend them to make sure they stay put and not poke anyone.

Then I had still crazy craving for sushi and since I had just come back from Vancouver, Chicago sushi was not looking appealing. So I made my own:

Ingredients included: imitation crab meat, avocado, cucumber, yam and carrot tempura and mushrooms for my roommate. It tasted pretty good, but I need to improve my rice cooking skills. The rice turned out on the mushy side.
Inspiration: Hunger
Improvements for next time: Less water in the rice

Lastly, in anticipation for the cold, I started knitting again.

My attempt at a toque turned out pretty good. It's warm, so I wear it occasionally.

This turned out to be a better idea in theory because it was like 15 C out on Halloween. I was sweating the whole night. I made an orange tube dress, used pipe cleaners to make a halter and vine to run down my arm.
Inspiration: The pumpkin headband
Improvements for next time: Check the weather
